One Day Pottery Special : Glaze Exploration
Workshop Information
This workshop is designed to give you the opportunity to explore the world of glazing and gain the basic skills and understanding of the process. Glaze making is a complex process that requires both theoretical and practical knowledge. During this session you will familiarise yourself with materials, basic glaze chemistry as well as learn the step by step process that you can later implement in your own studio setting.
There will be hands-on and theoretical exercises, where you will learn to read and analyse glaze recipes, how to mix them as well as line blend glazes to create a wider color/texture range out of a base glaze.
Through out the session we will formulate 'random' glazes, using a selection of different glaze materials. You will learn how their combinations can create your own recipe.
This workshop includes all the materials, clay test tiles, firing and a dust mask as well as a delicious lunch in the cafe. At an additional cost your fired test tiles can be shipped to your home address, or you can arrange a pick up at a later date.
We supply aprons but please wear clothing that you don't mind getting dirty.
