The Outside Ceramics Studio

Our pottery studio in Bantham offers wheel throwing and hand-building classes for all experience levels, from complete beginners to regular makers. Led by four experienced tutors, we run introduction taster sessions, longer pottery courses, Member Sessions, family workshops and private classes in a relaxed, inclusive and community-focused studio just minutes from the beach.

Our Introduction to Throwing taster sessions are the perfect way to try pottery for the first time or get back on the wheel. In two hours you'll learn the fundamentals of wheel throwing with plenty of one-to-one guidance in our small classes of just four people. As a participant in any of our pottery classes or courses, you'll receive 10% off food and drink in our cafe before or after your session (excluding Member Sessions).

Wanting to take things further, our longer pottery courses are designed to help you build confidence and develop your skills over time, with small class sizes, expert tuition and a welcoming creative community.

Member Sessions

Member Sessions are self-led pottery studio sessions for regular potters wanting more time on the wheel and greater independence in the studio. Held throughout the week, these sessions are open to people who have previously completed one of our longer pottery courses and offer a relaxed, community-focused environment to continue developing skills.

Private Classes

We offer private pottery classes for birthdays, celebrations, team days, reunions and group get-togethers. Sessions can include wheel throwing, hand-building or a mixture of both depending on your group and experience level.
