In this brand new class you will learn to craft an item of Jewellery from precious silver clay. Invented by the Japanese, silver clay is made from a mix of incredibly fine silver powder and an organic binder, creating a pliable material similar to clay. When fired in a kiln, the silver clay sinters and shrinks and becomes solid silver, which is then able to be hallmarked 999 or 925 and is no different to silver finished by silversmiths.
During this 3 hour session, you will spend time planning and designing your item(s) and then form them by hand. Silver clay dries and cracks very quickly so planning your idea is a crucial part of the process. Be prepared to have your dexterity and speed tested in order to create intricate designs! You will be able to imprint and carve into the clay as well as model and bend it into a variety of shapes. You will also be able to add semi-precious gemstones provided by us at a small additional cost or purchase additional clay.

Whats Included:
10g of silver clay will be included in the price of this session which is enough to make one medium (a thick ring) or two small (charm or pendant) items. We will be providing a range of gemstones (additional cost) which are chosen specifically for firing with silver clay, please do not bring your own gemstones as we will not be able to fire them in the kiln.
Both classes will be limited to a group of eight people, we will let you know with as much notice in advance of any changes to the date or time of any of the classes. Please see our calendar for more classes.

Cancellations
You have 14 days from booking this class in which to exchange or cancel and receive a full refund, if you have booked last minute and there are less than 14 days before the date of the class no refund or exchange will be offered, but you can transfer the booking to a person of your choice to take your place.
