LS/FF Best Film 2025
Kingdom of the Evening
Dir. Clint Davis
In 2010, young adventurer Kepa Acero, travelling alone in search of empty waves, met a 15-year-old grom named Yassine. Though they barely spoke the same language, they shared waves, tagines and an unspoken connection. Fifteen years later, Kepa and Yassine—now known as Snoopy, and a local legend in Taghazout—will meet again. But life, like Morocco, has changed. The dusty fishing village has transformed: boutique hotels line the shore, and Anchor Point is packed with digital nomads chasing Wi-Fi and waves.
Snoopy and Kepa embark on a journey to find what once was—pristine line-ups, pure stoke, and that elusive feeling of freedom. But things don’t go as planned. Does the dream they’re chasing even exist anymore?
One thing will never change: hope. They still believe that somewhere along this coast, there is a wave just waiting. Empty and perfect. Undiscovered. Or at least, that the story they keep telling themselves…
Awarded Best Film at LS/FF by an international jury for good reason—this joyful and tender tale of rediscovery celebrates the perils and rewards of retreading old paths in sublime style.
Finisterre x LS/FF Women of the Sea Winner 2025
Surf, Eat, Repeat
Dir. Karen Song
Finisterre x LS/FF Women of the Sea Fund winning filmmaker Karen Song presents a beautiful and inspiring insight into the rich and diverse New York surf culture through the notion of shared meals, shared stories and cold waves.
“The film explores diversity as it relates to surfing, especially in my beloved NY surf community,” explains Brooklyn local Karen Song. “It’s a reflection of the incredible women who are out there charging every day and our connection to nature even in this concrete jungle.”
Surf, Eat, Repeat—sounds like words to live by.
