Up-cycling with Mend Assembly Ages 11+

Join Mend Assembly for a denim re-fashion and up-cycling workshop.

In this two and a half hour workshop each participant will get hands on and learn the skills to up-cycle a piece of clothing into a completely new item. in this session we'll be up-cycling a tired or worn out denim garment using a mix of machine sewing, sashiko stitching, embroidery, appliqué and patching.

You will need to bring a denim garment that is in need of a new lease of life. Either a pair of jeans, jacket, shirt, shorts, skirt, bag. No sewing experience necessary, although we'll have machines available for those wishing to use them.

For those who have more experience and confidence with machine sewing there will also be the opportunity to make a denim tote bag from a Mend Assembly pattern.

Mend assembly are a local clothing practice flying the banner for sustainable fashion. As well as running weekly mending socials, clothes swaps and workshops for all ages they are a working studio offering repairs and small production runs.
